Michael A. Pikos, DDS, OMS

Dr. Michael A. Pikos - Dr. Pikos is originally from Campbell, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also graduated with honors from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. Dr. Pikos completed an internship at Miami Valley Hospital and residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Montefiore Hospital. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists. Dr. Pikos is the recipient of the 2006 Aaron Gershkoff Memorial Award from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the 2015 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Top Educator. He is also the first recipient of the Carl E. Misch Advanced Dental Implant Studies Education Award (2017). He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. He is also a Courtesy Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology and Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry, Adjunct Professor, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, School of Dentistry, and Adjunct Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology, University of Alabama at Birmingham. Dr. Pikos is on the Editorial Board of the following journals: Implant Dentistry, Inside Dentistry, the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry and the Journal of Implant and Advanced Clinical Dentistry. As an OMS, he is one of the first clinicians to recognize the relevance of Cone Beam CT and interactive CT technology for comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning along with its implementation for implant based oral rehabilitation. As a result, Dr. Pikos has made this high technology a cornerstone of both his private practice and Institute. Dr. Pikos has extensive experience in hard and soft tissue procedures and has placed more than 30,000 implants since 1983. He also emphasizes interactive CT technology along with foundational principles of prosthetics and biomechanics that dictate the ultimate success of comprehensive implant rehabilitation. Dr. Pikos is the author of the book “Bone Augmentation in Implant Dentistry” published by Quintessence Publishing. He has lectured extensively on dental implants in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Dr. Pikos is an active member and frequent lecturer for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Academy of Periodontics, the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Pikos is founder and CEO of the Pikos Institute. Since 1990 he has been teaching advanced bone and soft tissue grafting courses along with full arch immediate reconstruction courses with alumni that now number more than 6000 from all 50 states and 67 countries. Edward P. Allen, DDS, PhD

Dr. Allen has served as President of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. He is the recipient of the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, the President’s Award for Excellence in Dental Education from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the Saul\ Schluger Award for Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. In 2019, he was honored with the AAP Gold Medal Award, the highest award bestowed by the Academy. Hussein Basma, DDS, MS

Dr. Hussein Basma received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Damascus University in 2009. Dr. Basma completed a residency in Prosthodontics at Lebanese University and received a Certificate in Periodontology and Master of Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Basma is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontology at UAB. He is a Diplomate in the American Board of Periodontology and lectures nationally and internationally about periodontology and implant dentistry. Dr. Basma has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and abstracts. His teaching and clinical research efforts focus on bone augmentation, full-arch rehabilitation, multidisciplinary care, and integration of technology to improve patient outcomes.

Debora Dias, DDS, MSc

Dr. Debora Dias is currently an Adjunct Assistant professor in the department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. She is also a PhD candidate at the State University of Maringá (UEM), Brazil, under the supervision of Dr. Mauricio Araújo. Prior to coming to the US, Dr. Dias received her DDS from UEM, then she completed a 2-year Periodontics Residency Program and obtained her master’s degree at the same institution. She is a member of the Perio/Implant Research Unit headed by Dr. Araújo, where she has been working on different projects over the last years including clinical research on socket healing and ridge preservation for immediate or late implant placement.

Randy K. Shoup, DDS

Dr. Randy Shoup is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry. He served in the US Public Health Service for 3 year before starting his private practice journey located in Indianapolis in 1984. Dr. Shoup has pioneered several technological and procedural innovations to dramatically improve the quality of dentistry for all patients. In 1987 he had the very first intraoral dental camera showing patients actual pictures of their teeth with amazing clarity. In 1989 Dr. Shoup began to develop dental restorative procedures around the newest cutting-edge technology of using a surgical microscope through which to perform ultra-conservative dentistry. He helped form the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. The WCMID evolved into the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry and Dr. Shoup was the first member of that group. The ABD develops and promotes ultraconservative dental treatment for dental disease from decay, trauma, acid damage, grinding and clenching, as well as acid reflux and decay prevention. Dr. Shoup has and does lecture across the US and Internationally teaching dentists from around the world how to treat patients NOT using crowns or caps and NOT making huge holes in their teeth. He has also developed methods to restore teeth that the majority of dentists would say could not be restored and would have to be extracted. He also is a world leader in restoring teeth that have had endodontic therapy (a root canal) without having to drill big posts in the tooth and then grinding the tooth down for a crown or cap. Finally, Dr. Shoup takes all this knowledge, expertise, materials and equipment to Kenya and performs restorative and preventive dentistry for the children.

Thomas J. Kepic, DDS, MSD

Dr. Tom Kepic received his DDS from the University of Buffalo. He received his Certificate of Periodontics and Masters of Science in Dentistry from Indiana University. Dr. Kepic taught at University of California San Francisco before going to Upland, CA to begin his private practice. He has practiced in the same location for over four decades. He is a visiting lecturer at 12 universities. He is the past president of the California Society of Periodontics and was Region Leader in Periodontics for the Inland Empire for over 25 years. He is the past president of the Western Society of Periodontology, the first ever to serve two terms. Kepic was a Trustee for the American Academy of Periodontology and served on multiple committees. His greatest professional pride is being a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and serving as an Examiner for the Board including being Chairman of the Board. His passion for periodontics includes understanding the Prognosis for a compromised tooth and the ability to save many teeth that would otherwise be lost.

Curry Leavitt, DMD, MS

Dr. Leavitt is a native of Las Vegas and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Biology at the University of Utah. He graduated cum laude from Temple University School of Dentistry where he received numerous awards in research and clinical achievement. After graduating dental school, he was accepted into the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Periodontology program, where he received training in multiple surgical and medical disciplines. Dr. Leavitt received dual certificates in Periodontology from UAB and the Birmingham Veterans Affairs hospital. He received the UAB research fellowship and earned a masters degree in clinical dentistry comparing bone density values using cone beam CT images and histological bone biopsies. Dr. Leavitt enjoys teaching and has lectured to large groups concerning the effects of periodontal disease on systemic health and ridge augmentation techniques. He is also an adjunct professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicines dental GPR program. Dr. Leavitt has interests in esthetic gingival surgery, bone augmentation, and dental implant surgery.

Mark Anthony Limosani, DMD

Dr Mark Anthony Limosani received his D.M.D. degree from the University of Montreal in 2007. Since then, he completed a one-year multi-disciplinary residency at the Queen Elizabeth Oral Health Center, a McGill University affiliated program. Following one year of private practice and many hours of continuing education, he then followed his dream and attended the specialty program in Endodontics at Nova Southeastern University where he also received his Masters Degree in Dental Science. He won the “Robert A. Uchin Endodontic Award” for his presentation during Nova’s endodontic alumni day. Following his specialty program, he became an associate at Endodontics Limited in Kendall, under Dr Jose Francisco Barros for three years. Purnima Kumar, DDS, PhD

Dr. Purnima Kumar is the Chair of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Medicine at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. She received her dental degree from Annamalai University and MS in Periodontology from Dr. MGR Medical University in India. She later received her Certificate in Periodontology and Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Microbiology from The Ohio State University. Dr. Kumar is the Principal Investigator of Oral Microbial Ecology Laboratory at the University of Michigan that has been continuously funded through the NIH for over 15 years. She also collaborates extensively with the oral healthcare industry to develop therapeutics for microbial modulation. George Mandelaris, DDS, MS,FACD, FICD

Dr. Mandelaris attended the University of Michigan from undergraduate through dental school. He completed a post-graduate residency program at the University of Louisville, School of Dentistry, where he obtained a certificate in the speciality of Periodontology as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Oral Biology. Dr. Mandelaris is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery and has served as an examiner for Part II (oral examination) of the American Board of Periodontology’s certification process. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Graduate Periodontics at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry (Chicago, IL) and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan, Department of Periodontics and Oral Medicine (Ann Arbor, MI). Dr. Mandelaris is a Fellow in both the American and International College of Dentists. Dr. Mandelaris serves as an ad-hoc reviewer for the Journal of Periodontology and the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Implants. In 2021, he was appointed as an Editorial Consultant to the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry. A nationally recognized expert, he was appointed by AAP to co-chair the 2017 Best Evidence Consensus Workshop on the use of CBCT Imaging in Periodontics as well as co-author the academy’s guidelines. In 2018, he was recognized with American Academy of Periodontology’s Special Citation Award. Dr. Mandelaris is the 2018 recipient of The Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. Dr. Mandelaris currently serves on the American Academy of Periodontology Board of Trustees and has served as a Past President of the Illinois Society of Periodontists. MS

Kevin Murphy, DDS, MS received his dental degree from the University of Illinois where he also received specialty certificates in both Prosthodontics and Periodontics. Dr. Murphy is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is an Associate Professor, Department of Periodontics at Maryland. He leads the Esthetically Driven Treatment Planning and Periodontal Surgical Therapies course in the Periodontal Graduate Program. He is also an instructor at the Center for Advanced Dental Education in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Murphy practiced privately in Baltimore, Maryland, specializing in periodontics and prosthodontics. Steven M. Sullivan, DDS, FACS, FACD

Dr. Steven Sullivan specializes in oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic corrective jaw surgery, and TMJ reconstruction. Dr. Sullivan provides expert care for facial asymmetry, jaw abnormality, condylar resorption, TMJ pain, and arthritis of the jaw. Doctor Sullivan is a native of Colorado and completed his dental training at Baylor College of Dentistry. He entered oral and maxillofacial surgery training at the University of Oklahoma. Kia Karimi, DDS

Dr. Karimi is a board eligible prosthodontist. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine(DMD) degree in 2010 from University of Szeged, in Hungary. He then attended post graduate training in restorative dentistry and earned a certificate in Advanced clinical training in Restorative Dentistry from University of California Los Angeles in 2012. He then obtained his DDS degree in the United States from University of Colorado in 2014, After a year of clinical practice, he then completed 3 years of post-doctoral clinical training in Prosthodontics, at Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 2019. Shepard DeLong, DMD

Shepard DeLong is a 3rd generation dentist in Portland, Oregon, USA. He holds a BS from Portland State University, DMD from Oregon Health and Sciences University and completed a General Practice Residency at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is a member of AMED, IAOCI, EaCIM, IAOMT, and has served as a mentor for CEREC-doctors. He was formerly an associate at the first LEED certified, hi-tech, eco-friendly practice in the U.S. He is on the forefront of digital evolution, and development of novel technological workflows in dentistry. Brian Vence, DDS

Dr. Vence maintains a private practice in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois, with a special interest in comprehensive esthetic and restorative dentistry. Arnoud Noot, DDS

Arnoud Noot has a busy fee for service general restorative dental practice in American Fork Utah. Glenn van As, BSc, DMD

Dr. Glenn van As, DMD graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987. He is in full time private general practice. Since 1997, Glenn has worked exclusively with the Dental Operating Microscope for all of his clinical dentistry. He has travelled throughout North America and Internationally, lecturing and publishing about the benefits and challenges of incorporating microscopes into daily dental practice. Glenn at present is an active founding member and a Past President of A.M.E.D. He has released three DVDs on microscope positioning and how to incorporate the microscope into daily practice. Daniel Buser

Prof. Dr. Daniel Buser is one of the most experienced implant surgeons with 35 years of surgical experience. He is a pioneer of micro-rough implant surfaces and of the GBR technique. He has been Professor and Chairman at the Department of Oral Surgery at the University of Bern in Switzerland (2000-2019). He served as President of various academic associations including the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) in 1996/97, the Swiss Society of Oral Implantology (SSOI) in 1999-2002, and the ITI in 2009-2013. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Osteology Foundation (2004-2018). He received several scientific awards by professional organizations such as the ITI, the AO, the AAP and the AAOMS. Yasuhisa Tsujimoto, DDS, PhD

Dr. Tsujimoto is a former professor of Nihon University School of Dentistry at Matsudo. He is a special member of Microscope Special Outpatient Part of Nihon University Hospital at Matsudo, a Clinical Professor of Matsumoto Dental University and the Founder of Japan Association of Microscopic Dentistry.

Randy K. Shoup, DDS

Dr. Randy Shoup is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry. He served in the US Public Health Service for 3 year before starting his private practice journey located in Indianapolis in 1984. Dr. Shoup has pioneered several technological and procedural innovations to dramatically improve the quality of dentistry for all patients. In 1987 he had the very first intraoral dental camera showing patients actual pictures of their teeth with amazing clarity. In 1989 Dr. Shoup began to develop dental restorative procedures around the newest cutting-edge technology of using a surgical microscope through which to perform ultra-conservative dentistry. He helped form the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry. The WCMID evolved into the Academy of Biomimetic Dentistry and Dr. Shoup was the first member of that group. The ABD develops and promotes ultraconservative dental treatment for dental disease from decay, trauma, acid damage, grinding and clenching, as well as acid reflux and decay prevention. Dr. Shoup has and does lecture across the US and Internationally teaching dentists from around the world how to treat patients NOT using crowns or caps and NOT making huge holes in their teeth. He has also developed methods to restore teeth that the majority of dentists would say could not be restored and would have to be extracted. He also is a world leader in restoring teeth that have had endodontic therapy (a root canal) without having to drill big posts in the tooth and then grinding the tooth down for a crown or cap. Finally, Dr. Shoup takes all this knowledge, expertise, materials and equipment to Kenya and performs restorative and preventive dentistry for the children.

Dr. William Linger

Dr. Linger is a general dentist in Charlotte, North Carolina. He has a concierge dental practice focused on multidisciplinary care and sedation. Dr. Linger is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, Master of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, and Past President of AMED. He lectures all over the world on Microscope Dentistry and Sedation.

Dr. Juan Carlos Ortiz Hugues

Juan Carlos Ortiz Hugues, DDS, CEAS, AEP is an Associate Ergonomics Professional, Master of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry, CEAS II, and 2024 President of the Academy of Microscope Enhanced Dentistry (AMED). He is the author of the book Ergonomics Applied to Dental Practice. He provides lectures, training, and advice in Advanced Dental Ergonomics throughout Latin America and the United States.

Dr. Ozzie Mayoral

Dr. Osvaldo "Ozzie" Mayoral, a graduate of the University of Florida College of Dentistry in 1988, brings with him an extensive career spanning over three decades. He spearheads a fully integrated, state-of-the-art, microscope-centered comprehensive fee- for-service practice in Miami, Florida. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mayoral serves as a mentor and educator, guiding fellow dentists in the utilization of microscopes for restorative dentistry. Having completed the curriculum at the esteemed L.D. Pankey Institute of Advanced Dental Education, Dr. Mayoral earned recognition as a visiting faculty member. His dedication to advancing dental education and practice is underscored by his tenure on the board of The International Academy of Operative Dentistry and his role as Attending Faculty at Miami Children's Hospital. Currently, he holds board memberships in several dental organizations, including The Academy of Microscopic Enhanced Dentistry. A distinguished Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Dr. Mayoral's expertise transcends clinical practice. He lectures nationally and internationally, sharing insights on comprehensive dentistry, occlusion, restorative dentistry, and the innovative use of dental microscopy. His clinical achievements have been featured in dental education textbooks. Dr. Mayoral's innovative approach is evident in his incorporation of cutting-edge digital technologies into his practice. Recognized by the Discovery Channel for his pioneering work, he was among the first dentists to seamlessly integrate digital x-rays, digital photography, and digital impressions into his workflow, enhancing both patient care and efficiency. His dedication to documenting and sharing his dental work via microscope-integrated video cameras reflects his passion for promoting and advancing microscope dentistry for the benefit of dentists and the profession. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Mayoral is a classically trained pianist with diverse interests, including fishing, photography, farming, and traveling with his family.

Dr. Thomas Wiedemann

Thomas G. Wiedemann, MD, PhD, DDS, Clinical Associate Professor and full-time faculty at New York University, College of Dentistry, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Prof. Wiedemann´s career consists of more than 27 years of surgical and educational experience in an academic setting and successfully operating a private practice providing the full spectrum of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implant Dentistry. He has special interests in dental emergency care, pain management, minimal invasive surgical strategies, and techniques of the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has acquired extensive expertise in dentoalveolar and implant-surgery with multiple implant systems since 1995. He is well versed in innovative concepts of alveolar ridge augmentation and reconstruction and soft tissue regeneration, robotic guided- and piezo-surgery. He is the author of many publications, speaker in national and international conferences on oral surgery and implantology-related topics and serves on the editorial board of several renowned and peer-reviewed scientific journals. Recently he accepted leadership as co-editor in chief for the Journal of Dentistry and Oral Sciences and as Editor in chief for Journal of Surgery and Surgical Procedures.

Dr. Lisa A. Teel, DDS, MS

Dr. Teel is a periodontist, dental implant surgeon, and founding owner of Meridian Endodontics, Periodontics & Implant Dentistry. Her passion is to achieve clinical excellence while maintaining the utmost in patient comfort in a soothing environment. She attended New York University for her dental education, where she achieved honors in implantology and prosthodontics, as well as served as president of the NYU implant study club. Dr. Teel was selected to attend a highly competitive General Practice Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, NJ where she received advanced training in dental trauma and special needs patient care. Dr. Teel practiced as a general dentist in New York where she split her time as a contracted U.S. Coast Guard dentist and in an esthetically driven private practice. Dr. Teel received her certificate and Master’s Degree from a three year Advanced Education Program in Periodontics at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR. Her research focused on success criteria and survival rates of dental implants. Among others, she has presented at the Academy of Osseointegration Annual Session, the Waukesha County Dental Society, and for the Oregon Society of Periodontists. She has also served as moderator for various forums, including for the American Academy of Periodontology’s Annual Meeting’s “Lasers and Periodontitis: Point/Counterpoint” session. Domestically, she has volunteered her care in free health care clinics in New York, Chicago, Washington State and Wisconsin. Abroad, she travels to serve the people of rural Cap Haitien, Haiti. She is a Past President and C.E. Coordinator of the Greater Milwaukee Dental Association, and is an active member of Waukesha County Dental Association, American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, and the Academy of Osseointegration (implant dentistry) and is a faculty club member and Masters Program Advisory Board Member at Spear Education. She has also served as clinical instructor at Oregon Health and Sciences University and Marquette University, and frequently lectures for groups of general dentists. Utilizing the most modern technology, Dr. Teel’s surgical expertise focuses on comprehensive care with minimally invasive procedures. As her patients and colleagues attest, Dr. Teel prides herself in maintaining periodontal and surgical excellence, while alleviating her patient’s apprehension and concerns.

Glenn van As, BSc, DMD

Dr. Glenn van As, DMD graduated from the University of British Columbia in 1987. He is in full time private general practice. Since 1997, Glenn has worked exclusively with the Dental Operating Microscope for all of his clinical dentistry. He has travelled throughout North America and Internationally, lecturing and publishing about the benefits and challenges of incorporating microscopes into daily dental practice. Glenn at present is an active founding member and a Past President of A.M.E.D. He has released three DVDs on microscope positioning and how to incorporate the microscope into daily practice. He is also an active member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and he holds a mastership in lasers from the ALD.
