This seminar will review how technologies have changed our diagnosis and treatment of our patients.We are now able to identify and treat caries, periodontal disease, and failing endodontic restorations sooner than we ever could before.These exciting technologies bring the dental community to a bright, new age of dentistry for doctors, hygienists, staff, and very importantly our patients.

  • Learn how to incorporate technologies (lasers), the wide range of benefits they have in clinical dentistry, and how patients can benefit from their uses.
  • Learn common clinical uses for YSGG lasers, how they can address patients concerns and provide improved clinical results.
  • Discuss and clearly understand patient education and how to attract the right type of new patients with laser technology.
  • Learn how hygiene lasers can be used as an adjunct to scaling/root planning and periodontal surgery to treat periodontal disease, as well as discuss research backing up these claims.
  • Learn additional laser applications for treating dentinal sensitivity, herpetic lesions, veneer removal, and peri-implantitis treatment.
  • Learn how to improve the long-term success of bonded restorations.

About BRAD LEBRECQUE:

Dr. Brad Labrecque is a general dentist whose focus is incorporating laser technology in the modern dental practice. He is passionate about training dental practitioners in the use of dental lasers in all clinical procedures. Dr. Labrecque implemented lasers early in his clinical practice being one of the first dentists in Canada. He has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education and his practical experience makes him a global authority on laser dentistry and is sought after by dental practitioners worldwide to train them in successful implementation of this technology to improve their clinical outcomes from the traditional dental protocols. Since 1995, Dr. Labrecque has lectured globally on this technology in many conferences including Canada /USA/ Australia/ New Zealand /Iceland / Slovenia / Germany. This is due to his extensive knowledge in all wavelengths of dental lasers. Dr. Labrecque maintained a general group practice at Cedar Dental Centre in Kamloops BC Canada, 1984 – 2019 where it is focused on minimally invasive dentistry.

But how does the dental hygienist gather the necessary information, deliver, and educate the patient in an efficient and effective manner? This course will introduce technology, protocols, diagnostics, and communication skills to add value to the practice and provide the patient with highest quality of comprehensive care. Guided Biofilm Therapy, lasers, and voice activated charting systems will be introduced with therapeutic values to the patient and practitioner.

About LYNN ATKINSON:

Lynn Atkinson, RDH, has been a Registered Dental Hygienist for over 30 years. She graduated from Cypress College, California with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Her passion for utilizing technology while delivering the highest quality of patient care keeps her practicing four days a week as the Clinical Hygiene Director for a high-performing, patientoriented dental practice in Mission Viejo, California. Lynn lectures and provides clinical, hands-on training to dental professionals on successfully incorporating lasers and other adjunctive therapies into their protocols. For the past several years, Lynn has been a speaker at numerous conferences across the nation, speaking on a variety of topics. She lectures locally in addition to her hands-on courses, has authored several published articles, and has been a guest speaker on industry audio media platforms, enjoyed nationwide. Lynn is an active member and participant of multiple dental associations and organizations. Lynn is a key opinion leader for several dental manufacturers and companies, as well as a speaker and trainer for US EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy. She serves on the Board of Directors at the Academy of laser dentistry as Auxiliary Chair, a member of the ALD Speakers Bureau, Education, Conference and Testing Committees. Lynn is the honored recipient of the ALD 2022 Leon Goldman Clinical Excellence Award.

What Is Sugar and Why Do We Care?

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

This course will break down the components of sugar and discuss addictive properties.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Highlight where sugar is found and how it contributes to inflammation and disease.
  • The class will educate practitioners how to determine quantities of sugar and added sugar in food.
  • We will demonstrate how to interview patients about their personal sugar intake.
  • Teach practitioners how to actively change oral flora and introduce products that will deliver the best prevention modes for each patient.

About HEATHER ROGERS:

Heather M. Rogers began her career in dental hygiene in 1999 when she graduated from the College of Southern Nevada. She has worked in prosthodontics, periodontics, and general dentistry. Heather discovered her love for presenting educational courses while achieving her bachelor’s degree and being involved with her professional association. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2010 and is currently providing continuing education for professionals in communications, diabetes, implant maintenance, probiotics, infection control, COPD, marijuana, and vaping.

About LAURENCE S. AMBROSE:

Laurence S. Ambrose, DDS, MS, is a board certified periodontist and has been a full-time staff member at the VA Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona since 1998. He is also Adjunct Clinical Faculty at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health. He received his certificate in Periodontics from the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his Master of Science degree through Marquette University. From 1991 to 1995 he was a Commissioned Officer with the United States Public Health Service and practiced general dentistry on numerous Indian Reservations in northern New Mexico. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry and is Past President of the Arizona Society of Periodontists. Dr. Ambrose received his Master of Science in Oral Biology from Marquette University in 2000 and became a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2002.
