TRICIA OSUNA, BSDH, RDH, FAADH

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Updated protocols assist us in determining our patient’s specific needs. As we move towards a more collaborative profession, we need to embrace these updates to identify those needs. We are presented with continuous challenges of new advances in products and technology and their use in dentistry and are in need information to determine when and how to add them into our armamentaria. As professionals providing health services, our perception of product use along with protocols needs to be discussed with our team as well as the interdisciplinary refer- rals we have. The process of care (assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation) requires a comprehension of protocols, products and treatment options and how they are to be utilized.

Pockets, Paradigms and Protocols a Revolutionary Approach to Precision Periodontics

Katrina Sanders
KATRINA M. SANDERS, RDH, BSDH, M.ED, RF

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Despite our best efforts to study, treat and manage diseases of the periodontium, re- search continues to indicate increasing prevalence of oral inflammatory conditions, un- pack challenges with our existing protocols and challenge the dental profession with paradigm shifts. The ‘gold standard’ of periodontal disease management is pivoting as patients are looking to non-invasive approaches to safely, efficiently and definitively treat disease and subsequently promote health. The ever-changing environment of health care delivery is now focusing on the convergence of precision medicine, implementation science and learning health care system studies to synergistically improve clinical health outcomes. While our medical colleagues have adapted these paradigm shifts into avant-garde approaches to patient care, dentistry is now called upon to become part of this trailblazing movement. Join periodontal hygienist and international speaker Katrina M Sanders as she discusses a revolutionary concept of ‘Precision Periodontics’, critically examining the current landscape of oral inflammation with a deep focus on contemporary interventions aimed to transform non-invasive care for the periodontal patient, improve clinical outcomes and optimize management of periodontal diseases

The Amazing Benefits of Silver Diamine Fluoride 38% in Periodontal Practice

Kyle issac
Kyle Isaacs

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Periodontists and their team members specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, more than half of American adults aged 30 and older have some form of periodontal disease. Often, these patients will split time between their Periodontist and General dentist or move entirely to the Periodontist for their routine care. As experts in soft tissue and periodontium, it is important to remember the caries disease process and how periodontal therapy often leads to increased gingival recession, root sensitivity, and risk of root caries. The associated increased root caries risk may compromise the long-term success and survival of periodontally treated teeth.

Through this course, we will discuss the importance of a simplified Caries Risk Assessment and how to best manage moderate-high caries risk patients in your practice. We will explore the science of Silver Diamine Fluoride 38%, how to utilize it in practice, and which patients are ideal for application.
