Innovations In Dentistry

DR. MICHAEL KOCEJA, DDS

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

This seminar will review how technologies have changed our diagnosis and treatment of our patients. We are now able to identify and treat caries, periodontal disease, and failing endodontic restorations sooner than we ever could before. These exciting technologies bring the dental community to a bright, new age of dentistry for doctors, hygienists, staff, and very importantly our patients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Learn how to incorporate technologies (lasers), the wide range of benefits they have in clinical dentistry, and how Patients can benefit from their uses.
  • Learn common clinical uses for YSGG lasers, how they can address patient’s concerns, and provide improved clinical results.
  • Discuss and clearly understand patient education and how to attract the right type of new patients with laser technology.
  • Learn how hygiene lasers can be used as an adjunct to scaling/root planning and periodontal surgery to treat periodontal disease, as well as discuss research backing up these claims.
  • Learn additional laser applications for treating dentinal sensitivity, herpetic lesions, veneer removal, and
    peri-implantitis treatment.
  • Learn how to improve the long-term success of bonded restorations.
  • Learn how YSGG lasers dramatically & predictably increase the level of success of endodontic therapy.

About DR. MICHAEL KOCEJA:

Dr. Michael Koceja graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1986. He served 8 years in the United States Navy Dental Corp. where he completed a 1-year Periodontal Fellowship and received the Navy Commendation medal for outstanding service. He received his Laser Proficiency certificate with the ALD in 2001 and Mastership in the WCLI in 2003. Dr. Koceja has been in private practice since 1994 and has actively incorporated lasers into his practice since 1999. His focus is to incorporate lasers into the “everyday practice” of dentistry and provide a less invasive, high-tech standard of care for his patients. He has used many different types of dental lasers, including Diode, ErYAG, CO2, and ErCrYSGG, which gives him a true understanding of what to look for when incorporating laser technology into the dental office. Dr. Koceja has lectured throughout the world on dental lasers, trained thousands of doctors and hygienists, and has been actively involved in laser product development and testing of dental lasers for over 20 years

Breaking Through the Dental Benefit Code Ceiling

Dr. William Paveletz, DMD
DR. WILLIAM PAVELETZ, DMD

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Updated protocols assist us in determining our patient’s specific needs. As we move towards a more collaborative profession, we need to embrace these updates to identify those needs. We are presented with continuous challenges of new advances in products and technology and their use in dentistry and are in need information to determine when and how to add them into our armamentaria. As professionals providing health services, our perception of product use along with protocols needs to be discussed with our team as well as the interdisciplinary refer- rals we have. The process of care (assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation) requires a comprehension of protocols, products and treatment options and how they are to be utilized.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Gain an understanding of groundbreaking results that contribute to the evidence for the application of varnish with chemotherapeutic fluoride treatment
  • Attendees will be educated about the method of applying Ormocer containing desensitizing treatments and Nano hydroxy filled tooth creams.
  • Review and understand the different desensitizing & indirect restoration codes used in today’s dental practices.
  • Review correct narratives to use in submitting a successful insurance base dental claim.

About DR. WILLIAM PAVELETZ:

Dr. William Paveletz, DMD, is a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry. Upon receiving his DMD degree he completed a one-year general practice residency at University of Pittsburgh and continued studying prosthetics at the Graduate Department of Pittsburgh Dental School. Currently he is one of VOCO’s North America Clinical Directors of Continuing Education. He lectures nationally / internationally to dental retailers, dental societies, and teaching institutions. Dr. Paveletz has been published in various dental trade publications regarding temporization techniques with dental implants, treating geriatric patients, and fluoridation usage in adolescents and adults. He has a true passion for preventative and restorative dentistry, with an emphasis on biocompatibility and holistic dentistry. His hands-on workshops focus on topics ranging from dental coding and billing, hygiene, esthetic dentistry, fixed and removable prosthetics, and Nano and ORMOCER® technologies.

Pockets, Paradigms, and Protocols, a Revolutionary Approach to Precision Periodontics

KATRINA M. SANDERS
Katrina M. Sanders, RDH, BSDH,
M.Ed, RF

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Despite our best efforts to study, treat, and manage diseases of the periodontium, research continues to indicate an increasing prevalence of oral inflammatory conditions, unpack challenges with our existing protocols, and challenge the dental profession with paradigm shifts. The ‘gold standard’ of periodontal disease management is pivoting as patients are looking to non-invasive approaches to safely, efficiently, and definitively treat disease to promote health. The ever-changing environment of healthcare delivery is now focusing on the convergence of precision medicine, implementation science, and learning healthcare system studies to synergistically improve clinical health outcomes. While our medical colleagues have adapted these paradigm shifts into avant-garde approaches to patient care, dentistry is now called upon to become part of this trailblazing movement. Join Katrina as she discusses a revolutionary concept of ‘Precision Periodontics’, critically examining the current landscape of oral inflammation with a deep focus on contemporary interventions aimed to transform non-invasive care for the periodontal patient, improve clinical outcomes, and optimize the management of periodontal diseases.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Define implementation science and identify how this emerging discipline is focusing treatment strategies.
  • Discuss precision medicine and the evidence-based interventions available to improve clinical outcomes.
  • Examine the learning healthcare system and its influence on healthcare delivery systems.
  • Evaluate paradigm shifts in the provision of periodontics and the trends in inflammatory management for the dental professional.
  • Review the results of optimal therapy in a non-invasive approach to treating periodontal disease.
  • Examine case selection in integrating an early and precise approach to advanced periodontics.
  • Discuss anti-inflammatory products for the adjunctive treatment of periodontitis.
