Organ transplantation and donation has increased tremendously over the last 10 years yet there is still an immense need for understanding the processes of donation, transplantation and recipient care. Participate in a sharing of organ transplantation and donation information; learn about transplant recipients and their need for specialized dental care. This presentation will offer insight about the ‘how to’s’ of not only dental care for organ recipients but also communication with their families. We will also share insight on how to be a donor; unde stand that process and how to aid in sharing the message with your patients and colleagues on how to – Save Lives! Sharing life’s experiences is a fabulous way to learn!

Expand your pain management perspective beyond basic manual techniques. Computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery (CCLAD) devices & techniques can enhance both clinician and patient comfort. This course and workshop merges clinical experience with current technology to achieve positive pain control outcomes. Focus will be on CCLAD alternatives to common manual injection syringes and techniques, while leveraging anatomical advantages of “short needle IA”, “high IA block”, and “retromandibular” deliver techniques.

Using a Cognitive Approach to Modify Behaviour

It is evident that how we interpret information has a huge impact on our actions. It takes intention and using our prefrontal cortex in our brain to make a change. Are our expectations realistic for our patients? By modifying how we deliver home care recommendations, we can increase memory retention, motivation and ensure the correct technique is being completed. Lastly, we will discuss specific examples of patient-centered care related to cognitive impairments, a variety of health conditions, and within different age groups.
