Objectives to “The Seal is The Deal - Predicting, Preserving and Repairing the Soft Tissue around Dental Implants”

Giles B. Horrocks, DDS, MS

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

It is critical to understand the healthy periimplant phenotype when treatment planning predictable implant retained prosthesis. This presentation will discuss the key parameters to maintaining healthy soft tissue, preserving the bone and repairing a case that has gone bad. Cases will be used to correlate clinical outcomes with 1 – 10 year follow up.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Predicting – How the literature can help you predict realistic soft tissue outcomes when treatment planning esthetic cases.
  • Preserving – Preventing Peri-implant Marginal Mucosal Defects.
  • Restoring – Esthetic case recovery with periodontal plastic surgery concepts.

A Paradigm Shift: Saving Teeth Over Implants

Dr. Thomas J. Kepic, DDS, MSD

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

In recent years, the dental community has undergone a significant shift in treatment philosophy The oncedominant approach of extracting teeth and placing implants is being reconsidered in favor of preserving natural dentition whenever possible. Both dentists and patients have come to recognize that implants are not the universal solution they were once thought to be. Challenges such as persistent infections and progressive bone loss can lead to complications that are often difficult if not impossible—to resolve successfully. As a result, the focus is shifting back to saving teeth. Endodontic therapy plays a pivotal role in this effort, and when a tooth is severely compromised, endodontic surgery becomes essential. In this presentation, the speaker will share key insights and proven surgical techniques for managing periodontal disease, demonstrating how these approaches can improve endodontic surgical outcomes. Attendees, including endodontists and general dentists who perform endodontic therapy, will gain valuable strategies to enhance long-term treatment success—while also achieving optimal esthetics for their patients.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • Medical / dental history
  • Biology of the periodontium
  • Microsurgery
  • Periodontal conditions
  • Dental restorations
  • Patient related issues
  • Flap designs
  • Avoiding complications
  • Collaboration: endodontist, periodontist, orthodontist, restorative dentist, and patient
