The Contemporary Hygienist: Shifting Practice and Protocols to the New Age of Dental Prevention

Lynn Atkinson
LYNN ATKINSON, RDH

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

The dental hygiene profession faces challenges in patient care and compliance due to patient care provided in a conventional methodology. In addition, the impact of staffing shortages and packed schedules leaves little time to research new products or protocols that improve their clinical days and outcomes. These contemporary issues that many dental hygienists face lead to career dissatisfaction, physical pain, and burnout. This course will present a philosophical shift sweeping the nation with an innovative approach to dental prevention; Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT). GBT is a systematic, predictable, evidence-based solution that shifts the clinical focus to the comprehensive management of biofilm and calculus. The GBT protocol provides dental hygienists with solutions to their most complex issues regarding patient care, clinical outcomes, patient comfort, and time.
