What to “KNOW” for Your Patient to Say “YES”

Tracy Anderson Butler
TRACY ANDERSON BUTLER, CRDH, MFT

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Your patients are consumers and dentistry for the most part remains an elective service, leaving dental professionals vying for the expendable dollars of patients. We have all heard, “people buy what they want, not what they need.” Dentistry is not excluded from this value statement. How then do we compete against the major expendable income choices of our patients, such as smartphones, vacations, and entertainment? This program focuses on the foundational approach to establish clearly defined value-building exercises with patients, yielding an increase in value for your dentistry and motivated patient. Emphasis on effective prompting between hygienist and dentist will elevate simple best practices you can implement Monday morning.

Prevention & Management of Relevant Real-life Surgical Complications in Exodontia

THOMAS G. WIEDEMANN, MD, PHD, DDS

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Periodontists and their team members specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, more than half of American adults aged 30 and older have some form of periodontal disease. Oftentimes, these patients will split time between their Periodontist and General dentist or move entirely to the Periodontist for their routine care. As experts in soft tissue and periodontium, it is important to remember the caries disease process and how periodontal therapy often leads to increased gingival recession, root sensitivity and risk of root caries. The associated increased root caries risk may compromise the long-term success and survival of periodontally treated teeth. Through this course, we will discuss the importance of a simplified Caries Risk Assessment and how to best manage moderate-high caries risk patients both chairside and between visits. We will explore some of the latest technology including the use of Silver Diamine Fluoride 38% and more.
