Dr. Gerrarda O’Beirne received her dental degree from University College Cork in 1989. She spent one year as a Junior House Officer in Oral Surgery in the Dental Hospital in Cork, Ireland before moving to private practice in Dublin. In 1994 she received a Certificate in Periodontics at the University of Washington in Seattle and an MSD in 1995. Dr O’Beirne is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an Affiliate Assistant Professor with the Dept of Periodontics at the University of Washington. She maintains a private practice in downtown Seattle specializing in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry.

This course will break down the components of sugar and discuss addictive properties.

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

  • Highlight where sugar is found and how it contributes to inflammation and disease.
  • The class will educate practitioners how to determine quantities of sugar and added sugar in food.
  • We will demonstrate how to interview patients about their personal sugar intake.
  • Teach practitioners how to actively change oral flora and introduce products that will deliver the best prevention modes for each patient.

About HEATHER ROGERS:

Heather M. Rogers began her career in dental hygiene in 1999 when she graduated from the College of Southern Nevada. She has worked in prosthodontics, periodontics, and general dentistry. Heather discovered her love for presenting educational courses while achieving her bachelor’s degree and being involved with her professional association. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2010 and is currently providing continuing education for professionals in communications, diabetes, implant maintenance, probiotics, infection control, COPD, marijuana, and vaping.
