The Magic of Prevention

COURSE DESCRIPTON:

Caries infection has increased in young adult populations and continues to be a major disease for children. This course discusses the impact of Nano Technology on today’s preventative and restorative materials. Attendees will have a “hands-on forum” to provide their dental teams with new skills on today’s desensitizes, sealants, and fluoride treatments to combat patient’s current symptoms and prevention of future issues

Dr. William Paveletz, DMD, is a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry. Upon receiving his DMD degree he completed a one-year general practice residency at University of Pittsburgh and continued studying prosthetics at the Graduate Department of Pittsburgh Dental School. Currently he is VOCO’s North Americas Clinical Educator. He lecturers nationally/internationally to dental retailers, dental societies and teaching institutions. Dr. Paveletz has been published in various dental trade publications regarding temporization techniques with dental implants, treating geriatric patients and fluoridation usage in adolescences. He has a true passion for preventative and restorative dentistry with an emphasis on biocompatibility and holistic dentistry. His hands-on workshops focus on topics ranging from dental coding and billing, hygiene, esthetic dentistry, fixed and removable prosthetics, and Nano and ORMOCER technology

When we recommend a product to our patient, it is because we believe it works! There are many interdental options on the market … from water flossers to floss aids to interdental brushes and more! We must have a clear understanding of the products and how to properly use them. For example, we will learn about the different materials and settings on different devices. We will explore evidence-based research on inter dental care in relation to oral disease. We will feel confident delivering an individualized homecare recommendation.

Heather is currently the Professional Relations Manager for TePe Oral Health Care, Inc. She received her MSDH from Idaho State University and BSDH from Indiana University. She has been a hygienist for twelve years working both clinically and in educational settings. Heather has been adjunct faculty at both Pasadena Community College and Pacific University instructing both clinically and in didactic. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the dental hygiene program at Pasadena Community College. She has served and supported the American Dental Hygienists’ Association at both the state and local levels as Treasurer, Trustee, and as a delegate. Heather has presented CE lectures related to homecare and advocacy for underserved populations. She is passionate about dental homecare and developing patient responsibility in managing their personal oral and overall health.

Infection Control recommendations and guidelines from OSAP, CDC, OSHA and various resources will be presented and discussed. Infection control review with the office team aids in follow-through in the office on a day-to-day basis as well as the development of office systems. Each participant will leave with a wealth of references to utilize in the establishment of office protocols. Let’s talk about what the recommendations/guidelines advise should be done then evaluate what we are currently doing!
