COURSES Ceramic Implant Placement in the Aesthetic Zone: Do’s and Don’ts Dr. Al Manesh, DMD Course Description As zirconia dental implants are becoming more prevalent, this presentation will review parameters for a successful outcome when zirconia implants are placed. “More clinicians have been placing implants in recent years. Zirconia implants present a viable option that show comparable osseo-integration with titanium implants. In addition these implants show high bio-compatibility with the periodontal tissue. This will result in better outcome when using zirconia implants to replace missing teeth. Learning Objectives

![]() In 2007, Dr. Manesh founded the Mission Dental Implant Center in Mission Viejo, California, where he specializes in regenerative periodontal care, dental implants, and oral plastic surgery. Not only does he have extensive experience in periodontics and implant surgery, he is also a published author, noted lecturer, and a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the Orange County Dental Society, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the Academy of Osseointegration. Dr. Manesh is truly dedicated to providing quality periodontics and implant dentistry. He is constantly learning new techniques and adding to his expertise. He believes it is critical for a surgeon to stay up to date with changes in technology, and he strives to provide the best standard of care for his patients in an environment with the most advanced resources. He founded the Ceramic Implant Institute in 2015 where he teaches professional training courses including how to place and restore holistic-friendly ceramic zirconia dental implants as well as implant-related periodontal and prosthodontic procedures. He is a Fellow and previous Examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology and the American Board of Prosthodontics. Dr. Birdi is one of the very few board-certified dual specialists in periodontics and prosthodontics in North America, and the first and only specialist in the world to attain board certification in these two specialties in both the USA and Canada. Dr. Birdi is the co-founder of the Digital Dentistry Institute which is a global learning organization for his fellow dentists, and one of the largest dental educational organizations in North America. He is also founder of the BC Perio Dental Health & Implant Centres in Vancouver which is one of the largest and most technologically advanced multi-specialty dental centers in Canada.
