COURSES
Regenerative vs Non-Regenerative Solution for the Treatment of Patients with Compromised Bone
Homa H. Zadeh, DDS, PhD
Course Description
Patients with atrophic bone can be treated by a variety of regenerative and non-regenerative solution. The decision making relies on whether the patient is fully edentulous (or will be edentulated) or is partially dentate. Today, many fully edentulous patients are treated by non-regenerative solutions which exploit their native bone by resecting the compromised portion. Regenerative solutions are typically utilized for partially edentulous patients to allow the reconstruction that is congruent with adjacent dentate segment. The decision making for selection of appropriate technique and material will be reviewed in this presentation and will be substantiated with scientific evidence and representative clinical cases. The hands-on portion of the program will include simulated exercises for preparation of the alveolar bone in cases of both regenerative and nonregenerative therapies.

Learning Objectives

•  Be familiar with all of the regenerative and non- regenerative solutions for reconstruction of atrophic patients
•  Describe guidelines for selection of appropriate evidence-based therapeutic solution
•  Workshop: Perform bone resection to prepare the bone for implant placement into native bone
•  Workshop: Perform alveolar ridge augmentation for reconstruction of atrophic bone
